One Horse Shy CD Press Release - May 18, 2008
Good things take time and the Southern Oregon-based Americana band, One Horse Shy, was determined to go slow and get things right on their self titled debut CD. After a year’s worth of recording, mixing and mastering, One Horse Shy will release their new album at a series of shows over the weekend of May 30th and 31st. The record features 13 original tracks penned by and featuring the sparkling vocals of of Manda Bryn and Cris Kelly with multi instrumentalists Mysha Caruso and Bob Evoniuk adding color and vocal harmonies to the mix.
Recorded and produced by One Horse Shy’s percussionist Bryan Helfrich, the album takes the listener through a musical roots-rock journey from soft, introspective ballads to driving, up-tempo alternative-country rock tracks. The album was co-produced by dobro and lap steel player Bob Evoniuk with the additional input and expertise of bassist Mysha Caruso and independent producer Erik Beyer. Guest performances include the masterful harmonica solos of Lincoln Zeve; fiddle work by Crystal Reeves and Shaina Evoniuk, the five-string banjo of Rick Nelson and keyboards by Phil Plunkett.
One Horse Shy will be playing at the Silver Moon Brewing Company in Bend, Oregon on Friday, May 30th at 9pm. Performances at the opening celebration of the 2008 Britt Festival season in Jacksonville, Oregon between 2-6pm on Saturday, May 31st will be followed by a CD release celebration at Alex’s in Ashland, Oregon from 9pm-1:30am. One Horse Shy will have copies of their new release for sale at all shows. The album is also available at the Music Coop in Ashland as well as CDBaby and iTunes. Album Update! - March 3, 2008
Well folks...we're THIS close to completing our debut album! We've added a song for a total of 13 original tunes. We are currently mixing and then it's off to the mastering and duplicating people. To tide you over we've posted excerpts from several of the album cuts. It's been one heck of a winter for the band with a plethora of life-related events that have conspired to slow the album down a bit including a surgery, a birth and multiple bouts of the flu. But as one wise cowboy said to another, "if it don't kill ya, it'll make you stronger". Keep an eye on our calendar and your ear to the ground for our upcoming album release - and thanks for listening!
